Different Types of Acne & How to Treat Them

Acne is a problem that can happen to anyone, whether men or women. But often, this problem haunts women, especially during menstruation. No one likes acne because its appearance makes a person lose self-confidence. Various causes can lead to the existence of acne, including:

Stress

Stress can be the cause of facial acne. The body under stress will face a deterioration in bodily functions and eventually trigger acne.

The chemicals released during stress, neuropeptides, will make the acne problem more chronic.

Sebaceous glands

Hormonal changes usually cause this condition. The sebaceous glands become active and secrete sebum in large amounts. Eventually, it will lead to the formation of acne.

Having oily skin can also be a cause of acne.

Bacterial infections

When the resulting sebum is too much, it clogs or closes the pores. This situation will cause the accumulation of bacteria that eventually becomes the cause of acne. This condition can cause skin inflammation problems.

The use of make-up is not clean

Even if the make-up tools used are privately owned and not mixed with other individuals, you still need to wash the used prayer tools such as a make-up brush or sponge.

This is because unattended make-up can be a breeding ground for bacteria and lead to acne. So, once a month, wash and clean all the make-up you use often.

Dust and dirt

In your environment, there is dirt and dust that can also cause acne. Coupled with an oily facial condition, of course, it will make the situation worse.

Another thing that is also the cause is the dirt on the cell phone. Try you look at your cell phone screen, it’s greasy, and there are fingerprint marks.

Of course, such dirt can stick to the face and eventually, acne appears. Make sure your cell phone screen is always clean, at least before you attach your face to the screen.

Inconsistent facial care

Usually, women are easily attracted to buy various sets of facial care. However, not everyone can perform routine maintenance consistently.

There is no doubt that sometimes when we are too tired, we will be lazy to do facial care routines. And that thing can be the root cause of acne problems. So after this, you have to be diligent in doing facial care routines. Do not be lazy!

Frequent squeezing of acne

Did you notice that when you squeeze the pimples, soon the spots will appear near other parts? Kind of magic. But in fact, this habit is not recommended, not to mention it increases the risk for the appearance of acne scars.

If you are outraged, use a clean tissue or cloth before squeezing it, okay? But it is best to avoid squeezing. Fear will spread, and many pimples will appear.

Types of acne

You already know some of the common causes that can cause acne. Now is the time to know the type of acne. There are generally two types of acne that do not cause inflammation, namely.

Closed comedo

Known as whiteheads, it is a condition in which groups of oils and dead skin cells mix and clog pores. This situation, in turn, will trap sebum (oil) and bacteria. You will see white spots on the surface of your skin.

Open comedo

Known as a blackhead, it is a group of oils and dead skin cells that are open and oxidized with air causing them to turn black. The visible black is not dirt but a skin pigment — melanin that reacts with oxygen in the air.

Three types of acne can cause inflammation, namely:

Papules

Blackhead acne becomes inflamed because it is not treated and is infected with bacteria. It forms a red or pink lump on the skin.

These pimples are very sensitive to touch. Squeezing it will make the inflammation worse and result in scarring.

Pustule

This acne occurs when the red spots are inflamed and untreated, and purulent pimples appear white or yellow. Some call it adult acne.

Avoid squeezing or squeezing these pimples as the act can cause scarring and increasingly chronic acne problems.

Nodules

This type of acne is known as stone acne. This acne condition is significant, and there are inflamed bumps. This acne can occur when the pores are clogged, and bacteria have entered the bottom layer.

Often these pimples are severe if left untreated. This condition has undoubtedly caused the individual's self-confidence to decrease.

How to get rid of acne

The most accurate and correct way to solve the problem of acne on the skin is to see a doctor and get a clinical medicine that has been certified for its effectiveness.

There are also some alternative or traditional ways that you may use to control acne problems.

Here are some of the most effective ways to get rid of acne that you can try:

1. The essential oil

Tea tree essential oil results from an extract from the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, which is native to Australia.

According to studies, 5% gel of this plant extract is four times more effective at reducing acne than 5% benzoyl peroxide.

In addition, it causes fewer side effects such as redness and dryness on the skin.

The method is simple, apply on the skin and rinse with warm water.

2. Other essential oils

In addition, you can also use various other essential oils as long as they are antibacterial and anti-inflammatory to reduce acne.

According to studies, essential oils from plants include cinnamon bark, cloves, lemongrass. Lavender and rosemary can fight acne-causing bacteria like S. epidermidis and P. acnes.

The method is the same as tea tree essential oil. Apply it on the skin and rinse with warm water.

3. Green tea

Most individuals will drink green tea water because of its benefits to the body's internal health. Still, it is also actually very good for reducing acne problems. Green tea contains flavonoids and tannins that are very helpful in fighting inflammation and bacteria that cause acne.

In addition, it also contains the antioxidant epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), which can work to reduce oil on the skin. The method is the same: apply it to the skin and rinse with warm water.

4. Aloe vera

This is the most common and often used way to get rid of acne in our society.

This plant extract has anti-bacterial properties and can be used as an active ingredient in moisturizers and facial cleansers, soaps and sunscreen lotions. It can provide relief and is believed to treat the problem of the skin.

It is not that hard to take care of your face. The important thing is you need to know the right way, be consistent and gentle with your face!
