Foods That Can Help Reduce Acid Reflux

Acid reflux occurs when there is acid from the stomach rising back into the oesophageal tract. This condition is normal to occur but can lead to other health complications such as heartburn.

The choice of food you eat will affect the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Eating the right foods is key to controlling acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is a chronic digestive disease that occurs when stomach acid or stomach contents flow back into your oesophagus. This condition occurs probably due to stomach acid touching the oesophagus and causing irritation and pain.

If you are an individual who has too much acid, you need to include certain foods into your nutritional diet to control this problem.

 

1. Vegetables

Vegetables are naturally low in fat and sugar, and this helps reduce stomach acid. The best choices include green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, green leafy vegetables, potatoes, and even cucumbers.

 

2. Ginger

Works naturally as an anti-inflammatory, and it is a natural treatment for heartburn and other digestive problems. You can add it to the drink of your choice.

 

3. Oats

It is one of my favorite breakfast options, as it is whole wheat and has a good source of fiber. Oats can help absorb acid in the stomach and reduce reflux symptoms. Other options such as whole-wheat bread and brown rice.

 

4. Non -citrus fruits

Choices of non -citrus fruits such as watermelon, banana, apple, and pear, are among those that will not trigger reflux symptoms compared to acidic fruits such as lemon and pineapple.

 

5. Lean meats and seafood

Meats such as chicken, turkey, fish, and seafood, are low in fat and can reduce reflux symptoms. You can bake, boil, grill, or cook it according to your taste.

 

6. Egg whites

Is a good choice. Avoid egg yolks as they contain a high-fat content and can trigger acid reflux symptoms.

 

7. Healthy fats

Food sources that contain healthy fats are such as avocados, walnuts, olive oil, and sesame oil. Reduce your intake of saturated fats and trans fats and replace them with healthy unsaturated fat options.

No food can cure this health condition, however, the intake of certain foods is reducing the tendency for you to face acid reflux problems.
