5 Healthy Habits You Need to Adopt in Your 30s

Turning 30s should be one of the most rewarding decades of your life, but it’s also a good time to lay the foundations of good health for the rest of your life. In fact, studies show that the diet and lifestyle habits we form in early adulthood have significant effects on how well we age.

One such study, published in the journal Circulation, found that 60% of young adults who maintained five healthy lifestyle factors which are a lean body mass index (BMI), no excess alcohol intake, no smoking, a healthy diet, and regular physical activity were able to reach middle age with the lowest risk of heart disease.

So, before you jump into the number 3-0 (or, if you already have), here are 5 habits you can ingrain into your daily routine to set yourself into a better and healthy life.

 

 

  1. Learn to Cook

  1. Listen to Your Body

Learn to listen to what your body tells you by keeping note of any discomforts in a food journal, or call in the dietician pros. Your body will often let you know if something suddenly goes drastically wrong. If something feels really off like changes in being able to see, talk, walk, think clearly, or communicate, or having chest pain or shortness of breath call 911 or go to a nearby hospital. Please also give your body a rest day especially if you’re a workaholic.

 

  1. Pick Quality Over Quantity

Quality and quantity are both important. However, if you can only pick one, go with quality. The reason: Your body won't process the calories from a slice of cake or a can of soda in the same way it would a nutritious whole-food meal or snack. Since junk food lacks nutrients (like fiber to keep hunger at bay), it can increase hunger and ultimately cause weight gain.

 

  1. Develop an Exercise Routine

Exercise is important at any age but a well structure exercise routine is a must. Why? Because a good workout plan can helps prevent under or over training. You will have a clear goal and will prevents from taking burnouts. If you are a person that loves to be able to "check" something off, you will love a structured workout plan!   1. Wake Up Early — Even on Weekends

If you think about it, most people wake up early on weekdays and they are totally fine. Why should the weekends be any different? Morning are the most productive time of the day. The better the mood you wake up in, the higher your chances of being more productive. Early risers are also will eat better throughout the day: a study found that those who woke up around 10:45 a.m. consumed 248 more calories a day, half as many fruits and vegetables, and twice the amount fast food than those who set their alarm earlier.
